Hey Grampa, what's fer supper?

Vittles! Come an' get it!

What foods and recipes exist in the Verse? What favorites do you have that would fit well in the Verse?

How the heck do ya make Fresh Bao? Or (LOL) Wife Soup? Or an Ice Planet?

For that matter, can you recommend a Chinese cookbook? Mexican food? Or other regional cuisines?

I'm curious and considering cooking some new things at home, and some ethnic/regional cooking would be most welcome.

Um....Big Damn Test Kitchen? (Whole segment of the show devoted to trying out recipies from the Big Damn Chefs fundraising cookbook - we must have done at least 2 different versions of Bao. Odile from Sending a Wave certainly did one for us, with pictures in the shownotes no less. And very tasty they were too :-)

Carolyn and then Kari did BDTK for quite a number of shows over season 2 to 5 (or maybe only 2-4 - I forget - Carolyn even did a live version at Dragon Con one year) Plus there was the How To Host A Shindig segment in S1 which certainly included Verse themed dishes.

BDTK isn't dead as such, but it has lapsed. If we find some new stuff that hasn't been tried that would sit right at home in the Verse and someone on the crew to try it out and write about it, it may yet fly again. (Sombody else asked about just recently)

Yay, more to look forward to as I listen to the prior seasons.

Big Damn Fundraising Cookbook? Is it still available?

Hah, if you folks do a Volume 2, how about an unlabeled tin can on the cover? Grin Now that would be shiny in more than one sense.

I think we talked about, but didn't actually do, any BDTK segments in season 5.  Somehow I have come into possession of the cook book and I haven't really looked through it, but maybe I will.  A friend and fellow Browncoat makes bao and we've done ice planets here in Portland for various gatherings.  Very tasty. I ordered my Big Damn Chefs cookbook recently and it just arrived yesterday evening. Hoping to look it over some this weekend. I *might* get a chance over the weekend or next week to try out something. -- For some reason, bao is on my mind (never tried it).

Oh - I'm going through back episodes, and heard the vegetable curry recipe in one of the Big Damn Test Kitchen segments. So I'll be eager to test that. Never had a curry, but if it's mild enough, that'd be a winner.

Heh. Well of course, we didn't actually write this (not our project), we - or Carolyn at least and a few others bought it and did some recipies from it to write about as "this is how it came out" segments - which was Big Damn Test Kitchen

Well, now that I've heard a couple of the segments, I know it is/was an independent project. (Hey, Browncoat Independents....)

Still, if the people who did the first one are checking the forums -- folks, if the cookbooks are continued, or another project gets started, you're welcome to the unlabelled tin can cover image idea. Smiley It seems like it'd be a perfect image for it.
