Browsing in my local magazine counter I found:

Joss talks about the people and shows that have influenced him -- in SFX magazine, no. 219
http://www.sfx.co.uk/2012/02/08/sfx-219-on-sale-now/

Joss talks about Cabin in the Woods -- In Total Film, April 2012 -- the main message is the film is so different there must be NO spoilers (though there is a minor one in the article, concerning the casting)
(brief sample available on http://www.totalfilm.com/news/joss-whedon-talks-the-cabin-in-the-woods)

I saw the cabin in the woods today and it was awesome.

It was very funny, and very Joss-y and felt a bit like a Buffy two-parter in style, not in specifics, I wouldnt be expecting much "in every generation" stuff which played out a bit closer to the standard horror tropes than usual.

Slight spoilers brief plot summary, revealed early on:

Cabin in the Woods was pretty funny.  I find all horror movies funny though.
